I take pictures of the memorial lights every year but this photo is still the one I prefer. Thirteen years later and the memories are still clear. Many September 11's since have been rainy - stark contrast to the sunny blue sky in 2001.
A lot has changed and a lot has stayed the same. Thirteen years ago the internet was not quite the source for news that it is now.
Something reminds me of 9/11 often. Yesterday a co-worker pulled his pocketknife out of his pocket and told the story of losing his favorite one at the airport when he took a flight not long after the new regulations. Last week I read about a summer camp started for the children who lost a parent that day. The founders memorialize the son they lost in one of the towers by hosting the kids each year.
The floral tributes are piling up at the local firehouse...some sent from long distances. I hope we never forget.
