Another Year Older

Yesterday was my birthday.  Like New Year’s Day, a birthday makes me reflect on the past year and the coming year.  I saw a blog trend a few years ago to set goals to achieve before the next birthday such as “27 things I want to do before my 28th birthday.”  (That’s a much shorter list in one’s 20’s than at my age!)  Some of these goals are simple like read a book…while others take more effort like learn Spanish.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an example of someone finishing every one of the items on her list.  It is, perhaps, the effort that counts and that the achievements are worthy even if the entire list was not completed. I’m going to have to think about this a little more but I suppose I should put “finding a job or a way to make a living” at the top of the list.

Street Fair

It's always fun to walk out the door and discover a street fair.

This season cellphone accessories seem to be the hot commodity.  There were LOTS of booths with plenty of choices for cellphones.

Bill's Balls

At the cross street near the apartment was Bill's Balls.  Not too sure that's the best name to sell meatball sandwiches but he didn't ask me for advice.

A Birthday Dinner

Friday night the scrapbookers went to dinner at East of Eighth to celebrate Arlene's birthday and my birthday.

I had a nice filet mignon with onion rings, escarole and white beans.  Good stuff.

Followed by the birthday brownie sundae.  Even better stuff.

Louise brought interesting flowers.  There were cards and rubber stamps too.  Cecilia tucked a small ceramic spoon in her card.  It brought us minutes of fun thinking up uses for the spoon!

A (Very) Little Trip

Yesterday I had to join some former co-workers to sort paper at a storage facility.  First up was a subway trip to 125th Street.  I don't get out much so this was kind of exciting for me.

My subway trips usually involve underground train stops.  This change of pace was interesting.  But note the sign --- a McDonald's with a Drive Thru.  In Manhattan.  I don't see that much.  (And I don't have a car to drive through the Drive Thru but it's all about the wonder of it all!)

This is the lobby of the 3 story storage facility.  I've been to a few storage places --- glass, chrome and artwork are not what I expect to see at one.

Joining the 21st Century

Whoa!  This is scary.  I'm in the interwebs!
