I went to the Highlands Hammock State Park mainly to see the advertised 1000 year old trees. I was very surprised to discover they were dead trees! As they died from disease decades ago, it was decided to fill them up with cement to try to preserve them for later generations. While it was interesting to see the size of the trees there's something not quite right about a dead tree!
