Berlin Wall

Once the Berlin Wall came down pieces of it have been transplanted around the world (including Grand Rapids, Michigan!) The pictured piece is one of five located in New York City. It's in Battery Park City not far from the World Trade Center site.

Survivor Tree

This is the survivor tree at the 9/11 Museum. It was found at Ground Zero with broken and burned branches and damaged roots...but it was alive! The Parks and Recreation team carefully dug it up and replanted it at a safe site. Over the years with special care, the tree got stronger and grew and was finally brought back to Ground Zero in 2010.

911 Memorial

These are a few photos from the 911 Memorial. I didn't go in the museum. I am not ready for that - but this is the first time I saw the water features and the names engraved around them. Fourteen years later and crowds of people visit every day.

A sunny day in the 70's and the lawns along the Hudson River were filling up fast.

Dropped off the compost and headed south for a walk...looking for signs of Spring. Nice day, nice walk and 13,456 steps just for the walk.
